The pixelated appearance of this work is as though a magnifying glass has been placed in front of it. The scene depicted is a pleasing portrait of familial relationship. Captured in time, there is a sense of nostalgia, of the artist looking back fondly, heightened by the use of the typewritten, meticulously folded paper (a physical relic of the past). The children in the scene are gently frozen forever in youth; free from the worldly troubles on the other side of the magnifying glass. The microcosmically loaded pixel becomes a vehicle of meaning, as unit by unit, the artist builds a monument to memory. Magnifying the smallest unit of the portrait becomes a search for meaning and identity.
